Have you ever came up with a plan or a vision for how you want your future to look?
How about your career?
How about your lifestyle?
Knowing what we want, is the key to developing a plan for how to get it.
First we need a clear vision of what we want. Sit down with a pencil and paper and make a list of what you want out of life. You may be surprised that you have overlooked things that are actually important to who you are as a person. Then make it your job to bring those things into your life. Step by step, lay out a plan to reach each goal. I'm a big believer in using that outline technique we all learned in school. Then move forward, step by step, and you will soon see things happening to bring you closer to what you want out of life.
Your plan should be uniquely your own, but it's o.k. to research a coach or mentor who has done a thing before you, to see how they did it. Then you can take their experience, and glean what you want from it, add your own value system, skill set, and experience to it, to come up with an action plan for your life. It is the first step to getting what you want.
No one can predict the future, but, the only way to get what you want from it, is to take the steps necessary to attain what you desire. No runner won a race by standing at the start line, no singer won a Grammy by keeping their singing limited to the shower, and no business person started out with a million dollar company, unless they were rich to begin with, but I digress there. Most people have worked hard for what they want, in order to get it.
If you have always dreamed of a certain career, but are working at something else, ask yourself why. A lot of people have made hobbies turn into their business, just by taking the steps to make that happen. Most people can't just up and quit their jobs, but, is there free time in the evenings or on weekends that you could devote to making your true passion your career? A lot of people never realize their dreams because they sit there, resigned to their fates, and never reach for what they want out of life. You will never get what you want, unless you go for it!
If you are not living "who" you are, that can feel miserable. Examine your self, sit with yourself on a Sunday afternoon, and decide what you want out of your life, all aspects of it. Are you spiritually where you want to be? Are you mentally where you want to be? Are you doing your "right work"? Are you happy with who you are, and your lifestyle? Are you happy with yourself physically? The only way to improve any aspect of your life, to get what you want out of it, is to, like Nike said, just do it!
If you haven't already, develop a vision and plan for your future, your career and your lifestyle. When you know what you want, that makes it so much easier to go for it, and get it if you possibly can! Our race is only over when we reach the finish line! Otherwise, it's never too late!
Until next time!
